Some people are destined to pass through your world, but the encounters you had are enough to warm the long years ahead.

The story of the film takes place in Chongqing, a city teeming with lights and streets. Chen Mo, Yao Ji, Zhu Tou, Yan Zi, Mao Shiba, and Li Zhi all encounter someone very important in their own stories.
They walk some roads together, talk about the future, and once thought that the person in front of them would stay by their side forever. But later they realize that some stories don't go as planned.
Some people only accompany you for a while.
Zhu Tou couldn't keep Yan Zi, Chen Mo only slowly understood his own heart after losing her, and the story of Mao Shiba and Li Zhi became one that could never be revisited.
When we were young, there were things we wouldn't say outright—words hidden in names, in jokes, and in remarks whose true meaning we didn't grasp at the time. We spoke of the future. We talked so often about "what would come next"— where we’d go, what we’d do, and the scenery we’d see. Back then, that future felt so close—so close that it seemed if we simply spoke of it, it was bound to happen. Only later did I realize that some promises weren't actually broken; they simply remained frozen in the year they were made. As time went on— I would still occasionally think of that MP3 player filled with folk songs, of peaches and strawberries, and of little things whose dates I can no longer recall. As for Daocheng Yading—I never did go there. There was no particular reason. It’s just that, whenever I catch a glimpse of it now, I feel— that some places seem destined, from long ago, to be forever linked to a specific memory. Summer came and went many times after that. But none of them ever felt as long as that one.
